Diwali is a special five-day holiday known as the Festival of the Lights. It is a very important holiday in the Hindu religion and in India, but it is also celebrated all over the world by people of different religions.
During Diwali, families celebrate many joyful things, such as prosperity, getting rid of negative energy, and light overcoming darkness.
Just like any holiday, people have many ways to celebrate Diwali, including special foods, prayer and worship, fireworks, cleaning their homes, and candles. Many people create a special type of artwork called rangolis to decorate their homes. Rangolis welcome people into each other’s homes and are made for good luck.
Here at the library, we are so excited to celebrate Diwali with you! We will have amazing performers, crafts, and activities for families. We hope you’ll join us on from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 4.
More information about our Diwali Party can be found on our event calendar.
