Head of Collection and Bibliographic Services

Position Title: Department Head of CBS
Department: Collection and Bibliographic Services
Grade 11
Full-time:  37.5 hours/week 

 Are you an experienced leader with a passion for technical services and collection management? The Mount Prospect Public Library is looking for an inspiring leader to serve as our Collection and Bibliographic Services Department Head (CBS), responsible for overseeing the vision and responsibilities of collection management, acquisitions, cataloging, processing, and shelf management. 

 The successful candidate will be a public service champion, an innovative problem solver, and have an open and adaptable mindset. Excellent communication skills will help lead a team of 25 dedicated team members (including four supervisor roles) in this multi-functional department.  

 The CBS Head reports to the Executive Director and serves as a member of the Management Team to advise and assist in the overall management of the Library. 

 MPPL’s ILS is SirsiDynix Horizon 7.5 with Enterprise as the patron discovery platform. 

 Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school and minimum 5 years of professional library experience required in technical services, collection management, or related functional area. Demonstrated progressive management/supervisory experience. 

The schedule is 37.5 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends. 

The annual salary will commensurate with experience ($59,000-$74,000/year). Excellent benefits include generous paid time off and participation in IMRF pension.

Business Librarian – Research Services Department

Position Title: Business Librarian
Department: Research Services
Grade: 9
Full-time: 37.5 hours/week

Join the staff of an active, service-oriented public library. Major duties include staffing a busy reference desk, collection development, outreach, and programming. Programming responsibilities include business, career, and financial topics. Candidate must have an interest in technology, strong public speaking skills, initiative, and a commitment to providing excellent public service. Individual must be able to work effectively in a team environment. Schedule is 37.5 hours per week, includes evening and weekend hours. Masters in Library Science from an ALA accredited school preferred, applicants with significant coursework toward a Masters in Library Science degree will be considered. Annual salary is $47,192 and benefits, including IMRF.

Janitor – Building Services Department

Part-time Janitor position available. The janitor position is responsible for the general cleaning and upkeep of the Library building and property inside and outside. It also involves meeting room setup and assisting with building security. Job requires the ability to perform medium to heavy work. High school diploma or GED. Some previous commercial janitorial experience a plus. Evening and weekend hours. $13.38 per hour.

Schedule:

Sundays 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Tuesdays 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM
every other Saturday Noon to 6:00 PM
