Part time position
23 hours per week average
Are you passionate about engaging readers as individuals and groups? We’re excited to welcome a new part-time Readers’ Advisor to the amazing team of the Fiction/AV/Teen Department at the Mount Prospect Public Library. Working with the Fiction Librarian, this position will provide organizational support and resources for the Library’s book groups. This position will staff a popular materials desk providing plus-ultra service to adult and teen patrons; lead Library book discussions; provide resources for local book groups; and work with our enthusiastic advisory team. This position will also include opportunities to develop new popular material programs for adults.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will be friendly, highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable. Minimum two years public service experience with popular materials required. Established book discussion leadership skills required. Public library program experience desired. Bachelor’s Degree (or the equivalent education and work experience) required.
SALARY: $17 – $19 per hour (offer will be based with qualifications and experience)

Flexibility for evening discussions, including leading a Monday evening discussion every other month; participation in Friday evening and weekend rotations (about every six weeks).
Part time position
Hours: 10 average per week
Major responsibility is shelving library materials.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required to pass a skills exercise on alphabetical and numerical arrangement of library materials. High school diploma or student.
SALARY: $11 per hour
Other benefits: Our general part-time staff are eligible for paid holidays and a paid “birthday” holiday.
SCHEDULE (average of 10 hours per week):
Tuesday 6 pm to 9 pm
Wednesday 6 pm to 9 pm
Every other weekend:
Saturday 10 am to 2 pm
Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm
Part Time position
Hours: 12 per week
Responsible for the upkeep of the Library building and property. Repair of equipment, building and grounds maintenance and some janitorial/housekeeping. Also included with this job is meeting room setup and assisting with building security.
QUALIFICATIONS: Position requires ability to perform medium to heavy work. High school diploma. Some previous work experience in maintenance.
SALARY: $19.09 per hour

Full Time position
Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Weekday hours, may include occasional weekend/evening hours.
Do you love libraries and public fund accounting? Are you smart and detail oriented with an interest in leadership? If so, consider joining the Mount Prospect Public Library team as our Finance Manager. This position is responsible for accounting operations, maintaining financial records, creating and monitoring internal controls, budget creation and implementation, and biweekly payroll. We’re looking for someone who is interested in developing practices and procedures and using technology to optimize our fiscal operations.
MPPL has a $10M budget and a team of 150 lively, dedicated staff. The Library is within easy walking distance of Mount Prospect Metra train station.
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (and/or the equivalent education and work experience) with at least five years of accounting experience in the public sector or a non-profit organization. Experience with governmental fund accounting and payroll is required. Experience with Sage accounting software is a plus.
SALARY: Salary range is $53,000 to $66,000 (actual offer will be commensurate with qualifications and experience).

Hours: 13.5 hours per week average
The janitor position is responsible for the general cleaning and upkeep of the Library building and property inside and outside. It also involves meeting room setup and assisting with building security. Job requires the ability to perform medium to heavy work. High school diploma or GED. Some previous commercial janitorial experience a plus. Evening and weekend hours. $14 per hour.

Tuesdays 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM
