Page/Shelver – Collection and Bibliographic Services

Major responsibility is shelving library materials.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required to pass a skills exercise on alphabetical and numerical arrangement of library materials. High school diploma or student.

SALARY: $11 per hour

Other benefits:   Our general part-time staff are eligible for paid holidays and a paid “birthday” holiday.

SCHEDULE (average of 16 hours per week):
Tuesday 9-12:30
Wednesday 9-12:30
Thursday 9-12:30
Friday 9-12:30
every other Saturday 9-1

Janitor – Building Services Department

Part-time Janitor position available. The janitor position is responsible for the general cleaning and upkeep of the Library building and property inside and outside. It also involves meeting room setup and assisting with building security. Job requires the ability to perform medium to heavy work. High school diploma or GED. Some previous commercial janitorial experience a plus. Evening and weekend hours. $13.38 per hour.

Schedule:
Sundays 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Tuesdays 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Fiction/AV/Teen Assistant (2 positions) – Fiction/AV/Teen Department

Do you enjoy connecting patrons with the books, movies, and TV they love? Does the idea of helping a patron discover a brand-new author interest you?

Fiction/AV/Teen Services is looking for two service-oriented individuals with a passion for popular culture to join a collaborative team serving readers, listeners, and viewers of all interests. Both positions average 17 hours per week and will spend the majority of their time on the public desk helping both adults and teens.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor degree or the equivalent education and work experience is desired. Public service experience. Bilingual skills a plus.

SALARY: $16.96 per hour

SCHEDULE AND DUTIES (indicate if you prefer Position One or Two):

Position One:
Monday  9 am to 1pm
Wednesday  9 am to 12 pm
Thursday  9 am to 12 pm
Friday  9 am to 1 pm
Participation in weekend rotation.

Additional responsibilities will include:
Providing support for patrons participating in book discussions
Assisting with recurring administrative tasks
Using a detailed eye to provide popular print and audiovisual collection support
Helping patrons with ebooks and other digital media

Position Two:
Monday  2 pm to 6 pm
Tuesday  3 pm to 6 pm
Thursday  3 pm to 6 pm
Friday  3 pm to 7 pm
Participation in weekend rotation

Additional responsibilities will include:
Developing positive relationships with regular teen library users
Helping librarians with programming for teens (and occasionally adults)
Assisting with recurring administrative tasks
Using a detailed eye to provide popular print and audiovisual collection support
Helping patrons with ebooks and other digital media

Fiction AV Assistant

Copy Cataloger (PT 25 hours per week) – Collection and Bibliographic Services

We are seeking a Copy Cataloger which is responsible for the work associated with cataloging and processing of library materials. Work also includes database projects as assigned. Position requires the use of OCLC, WebDewey and various other cataloging resources found in Cataloger’s Desktop.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree (or the equivalent work and education) required. A minimum of 2 years of copy cataloging experience is desired.

SALARY: $19.09 per hour. 

Other benefits: Part of the total compensation package includes paid time off benefits (I.e., vacation and sick leave). Retirement savings options include participation in the IMRF pension plan.

SCHEDULE: 25 hours a week Monday – Friday.
