Illinois residents can now renew and purchase license plate stickers at the Information desk at the Main Library. No appointment is needed; this service is available during regular hours, up to 30 minutes before closing. 

Fees: 

• $151 for a standard plate (fees vary for personalized, vanity, or other plates) 
• $9 service fee 

Stickers may be purchased with cash or credit card. Please note the library cannot issue replacement stickers. 

What you’ll need to bring: 

• Vehicle registration renewal notice, current registration card, or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) 
• Current driver’s license 
• License plate number 

If your vehicle needs to pass an emissions test, we will be unable to renew your sticker. Find information on the Illinois Vehicle Emission Testing Program here: www.ilairteam.com.
