ELECTRONICS RECYCLING RESUMES: Beginning Wednesday (April 14) SWANCC member community residents can drop-off electronics from 10 a.m. – Noon at the Mount Prospect Public Works Facility (1700 W. Central Rd.). Items brought to the facility outside of designated hours will not be collected. For more information about acceptable items, contact Public Works at 847/870-5640. This service is available through the last Wednesday in October.
ACA EXTENDS ENROLLMENT DEADLINE: Eligible Illinoisans have more time to sign up for the ACA Health Insurance Marketplace plans. President Biden has extended the deadline for the Special Enrollment Period in response to COVID-19 from May 15 to August 15. Starting April 1, consumers enrolling in ACA Marketplace coverage through www.getcoveredillinois.gov and www.HealthCare.gov were eligible to receive increased tax credits to reduce their insurance premiums. —-PARADE CANCELLED: For the second year, the City of Des Plaines has cancelled the July 4th parade due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In its place, the city will organize a patriotic decorating contest for residents, businesses and community groups. Winners will receive prizes and be recognized on the city’s website and social media platforms. The Taste of Des Plaines plus the four Friday Nights Live! Events planned for the summer have also been cancelled.
