STIMULUS CHECKS ON THE WAY: Social Security recipients and other federal beneficiaries who don’t normally file a tax return should soon be receiving their COVID19 relief payments. A paperwork delay held up the payments in mid-March. The IRS expects beneficiaries will receive their checks by April 7.
ACA EXTENDS ENROLLMENT DEADLINE: Eligible Illinoisans have more time to sign up for the ACA Health Insurance Marketplace plans. President Biden has extended the deadline for the Special Enrollment Period in response to COVID-19 from May 15 to August 15. Starting April 1, consumers enrolling in ACA Marketplace coverage through www.getcoveredillinois.gov and www.HealthCare.gov were eligible to receive increased tax credits to reduce their insurance premiums. —-FLOATING EASTER EGG HUNT: Kids ages 1 -10 can search for Easter eggs in the Prairie Lakes Aquatic Center (515 E. Thacker St. DP) on Saturday (April 3) beginning at 1 p.m. Hundreds of plastic eggs will be hidden in the pools and splash pad. Participants will be grouped by age. A maximum of 25 kids will be allowed per time slot. Admission is $5 for district residents or $10 for anyone else. Advance registration is required at bit.ly/DPFloateggs or by visiting the district administrative center. Kids should bring a waterproof basket or bag to collect the eggs. They are welcome to stay and swim after their allotted time slot ends.
