Grow a lifelong love of reading for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers!
The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is specially designed for children ages birth to five. The goal is to read 1,000 books before the start of kindergarten!
Did you know that when you read aloud with a child, you empower them to build essential language and literacy skills, a strong imagination, and a powerful bond with you—their grown-up! By reading just three stories a day, you can empower your little learner to reach 1,000 books before they start kindergarten. The library is here to help you track your child’s reading journey and help you learn about great reads for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. This program is sponsored by the Mount Prospect Public Library Foundation.
Its is easy to participate!
Visit MPPL’s Youth Services desk or the South Branch location to register and pick up your reading log.
For every 100 books your child reads, visit us for stickers and fun prizes! For completing the program, every child receives a new book for their home library and their name on a bookplate inside a library book.
