Early literacy or pre-literacy is what children need to know before they learn to read and write. Did you know that the library has special early literacy bags to check out that contain a collection of books, toys, and other items for parents to practice these skills with their toddler or preschooler? There are a total of six different themes: clothing, food, on the farm, happy birthday, bugs, and bathtime. Each bag focuses on a different early literacy skill: phonological awareness, letter knowledge, print awareness, vocabulary, and narrative skills.
